Default MOusetAIL, & gumdales pump station

MOusetail water temp was 55, noone was catching anything, we caught one keeper and 4 dinks, we packed up and went to GUmdales Pump Station, We caught 8 keepers, 2 nice bass and a decent bream. At least we got a mess to eat on..First time I had been back to gumdales in years.. the deepest water was about 3 foot deep.. I had to raise my trolling motor to keep it from kicking up mud. We knew the fish would be skidish so we backed off and cast into the cover and around stickups and starting catching fish. Blue and white jigs about a foot under a bobber seemed to the ticket today.

DOes anyone know anything about gumdales, it used to be deeper than what it is now, are they letting it fill in. Looks like the pump house has not been used in a long time.

The water was flowing out of Busseltown pump station, there more water in it than I have seen in a longtime. I may have to be there on the 16th.

Gumdales Pump station? Is that the one in Mousetail or the one at Beech River campground?

I was wondering if you talking about the one at Beech River. Dad called me saturday and said that he was going to fish there but the water was really low. Last time I fished in there was last year about this time. The water was up then. It was up everywhere though, all across the river. Glad to hear you at least got a mess of fish. Maybe you will really get on them next time. I thought about fishing the Beech River this weekend but with the water low, I don't know.

I was at Beech River a couple of weekends ago looking at lots. The water was low, but it was a good chance to see some structure that wouldn't be visible in higher water. Good time to explore.

Thanks Jaxx. If i buy a lot on Beech, maybe I'll see you there. I'll be the guy looking lost in the old blue & silver Ranger.

A couple of guys i know are planning on fishing the pumping station area at/near the campground this coming weekend. They swear it's gold this time of year.

Yep the Beech River Pump Station can be a hot spot at times..I havent been in there with the water this low.it would be interesting to get in there with the water low and look around.. Be careful in the back there will a lot of stumps in play now..

    Default Pump house

Gumdale doesnt pump any water anymore but they do close the gate dureing the winter. They opened it about 6 weeks ago and let it fall to river level. They usually let it out little at a time. Done the same thing at Beech Bend pump station. I have picked up a few in BB but nothing to call home about. If the water would clear up Beech river it would be wide open right now.Water is low and you better watch them stumps when in beech, there everywhere. Busseltown is usally good when it opens but there will be boats on top of boats in there. The wardens usually drop the water alot, just before it opens. Be careful putting in there if you dont have 4 wheel drive. It gets pretty slick after 25 boats put in on a gravel and mud ramp. Watch out for the Wardens they usually check down there pretty good.

Thanks for the information everyone. It helps me decide what I am going to do this weekend. I hope the wind holds down a little so I can go. I am about to the the point that I am going somewhere someway somehow. Anyone going to fish busseltown or the tie yard when they open it? It is fun going on opening day just to watch all the people. Meet some good people at the tie yard last year.

Ok, i had never heard of the tie yard until i joined c.com last year and saw some posts. Now, after spending a while talking to my wife's uncle about it, I have to try it this year. When does it open? and are there other "rules" about fishing there? I think i know where it is.
