Default My prayers are with the families.........

That's sad. Me and Bubba were just talkin about that. The media says that the four of them were out in a 21 footer. I've SEEN the ocean before, but never been ON it or IN it more than knee high. I do respect the power of it, though. I couldn't imagine being in a boat that small (relatively) w/ 7-15 ft waves.

I'm sure that a lot of us on this board have been on the water in "less than ideal" conditions, or even in "less than ideal" watercraft. Please be careful out there, fellas.....and don't be afraid of being called the "wuss" and cutting the fishing trip short....especially if you've got a "ThrillSeeking" buddy  that's dead set on going out regardless of the conditions.

It's too bad they didn't stay with the boat....maybe things would have been different. My thoughts and prayers go out to them and their families.

Just read the story which provided additional information on what happened. One of the football players after spending several hours in the water, took off his vest and floated away. The other football player did the same thing several hours later. Bleakley who didn't have a vest, only a cushion decided to swim for help after seeing lights in a distance. All very sad, if they could have stayed together with their vests/cushion at the boat, maybe more would have survived.

Did I understand the story correct, that they were going 25-30 miles offshore in a 21 ft boat? I dont know how you could get four people to agree to that.....30 miles !!!! I live on Lake Michigan and I can tell you that I've been in a boat of similar size 10-15 miles out and we made sure to check weather updates constantly and stayed within eyesight of other boats...and radio cantact.....that is a long ways out !
