i use a 15 lb navy anchor on the back an a chene anchor on the front with a 100 ft of rpoe on each one works pretty good
Can you believe I don't own any kind of anchor. What type and weight would you recommend for a 20 footer. I have been looking at Wally World at a river anchor and I believe it weighs 14 pounds. Is that big enough to anchor each end?

What does a chene and a navy anchor look like? I have never heard of either of those anchors
OW - all of them work fairly well. I have found the "river" anchor, or mushroom anchor to work the best all around. You may know this, but adding a length of chain before tieing on the anchor rope, really improves the effectiveness of any anchor. For the 15 lb mushroom anchor I have been using 3 feet of chain. They hold my Triton just fine. As Speck said, make sure you have plenty of anchor line. Twice the length of the depth of water you fish is minimum. Let it out on both ends of the boat and then pull yourself into position while taking the slack out of each line. Sea anchors, the metal ones with the two points, are reversable. They will hold like a rock. But the get hung up easy in brush. If you are fishing obstruction free bottom, they would be a better choice. I have two of those and four of the mushrooms. I use the mushrooms on my river pontoon boats as well. They work like a charm.
