    Default Reelfoot May / June

For the past two years my brother and i have been down to Reelfoot during APril. First year spoiled us rotten, with great weather and fishing, last year the weather really made it tough. Due to my travel schedule this early spring we didnt make it down, but are considering a trip in mid may to early June. I know that the main crappie spawn will have concluded, but if mother nature smiles on us a little the Bluegill bedding will be in full swing. My question is simple, does anyone have any experiences that they care to share about the fishing on this lake at that time of the year? We are oportunistic fisherman and take whatever bite is "on" at the time. I think that we are ultimately going to listen to what reports we have seen on this board and come down for some late fall early winter crappie fishing this year as well.

Thanks for any and all comments.

Chris! bluegill should be in full swing!

Crappie will still be available, just in a summer pattern. They will be back to pre-spawn areas. Usually 10-14ft suspended up some. It all depends on conditions! If you can stand the heat you can figure them out. THey might be in 10ft of water suspended 5ft, or in 15ft on the bottom. Who knows, you just have to look around for them. I think we will probably start out spider riggin early for crappie and as it heats up move around in the trees and pads for bedding gills.!

    Default End of May

In the 16 + years I have been fishing Reelfoot, two years ago, the 3rd weekend in may, 90 crappie....(three of us in the boat)....all caught jiggin the trees in 4 foot water.

I have also done VERY well, middle of June...jiggin trees, 4-5 foot water...for whatever reason, everybody just thinks that after Arpil the Crappie high tail it deep water...it's just not so. Everyone else will be fishin with bobbers for blue gill....just don't get it.

    Default Hey Bails!

Where you been? I haven't seen you posting in a while. I'll be fishing at the 'Foot with the group at SouthShore on May 7, 8 and 9. Will you be there?

We'll Be There May 6, For A Week And Then Again The First Week In June. Usually Do Bluegill But Think We Will Also Do A Day Of Crappie. We Jug Fish For Catfish And Usually Have A Ball. If You Haven't Jug Fished At The Foot, You Are Missing A Lot Of Fun. May 6 I'll Be At Southshore. If Anybody Needs Some Jugs, Stop By And I'll Loan You Some.

John and Greg -- I'll be arriving at SouthShore the evening of the 6th driving a white GMC Acadia with Illini plates. Hope to see both of you.

And congrats on the new baby, Greg!
