    Default Bank Fishing?

Coming out to Nashville TN March 24th to 30th. Bringing some UL poles, but not the boat. Visiting In-laws, so may get bored. What is there for bank fishing around Old Hickory or Priest? Are there any marina's that rent jon boats? Mostly a crappie fisherman, but if need to can bring some heavier stuff for bass or striper. Is there access below the dams, they live real close to the Priest Dam. Appreciate any feedback.

    Thanks,
    berdman

Yea, Priest Dam is easy access and I see fishing below the tailwaters from the bank when ever there is water flowing, like when we have enough rains to let some out

Also if you want to check with Fate Sanders Marina for rental boats. Last I heard they rent boats. I don't have there number but your relatives might hook you up for that. Or one of the others that frequent Priest might be better source than me on available fishing opportunities. I'm mostly over at Old Hickory.

I seen some flat bottoms at Fate the other day when I was over there.I aint got the number to them.I aint for sure about the fishing areas down near the dam as far as from the bank.Think Elm Hill rents boats also. But if you are up near Smyrna Stewarts creek ramp has a dock for fishing off of.

Fate Sanders rents boats and Elm Hill Marina rents boats too. If your folks like next to the dam, Elm Hill may be a little closer to you. They make you park at the top of the hill and pay a parking fee there though (and the hill's steep). Keep in mind, if you're fishing on the dam side of the lake, which Elm Hill is, you'll be fishing in slightly cooler, deeper water. There are some good coves and islands along the channel right out of the Elm Hill.

If you go for the bank fishing at Old Hickory Lake, there is some good shoreline with rock, brush, and fallen trees in the Shutes Branch ramp cove off of Saundersville Road. It may be a little shallow for crappie though due to our recent cold front. I haven't been out there in a couple weeks so I'm not sure how deep they're holding at Old Hickory.

Good luck out there, and welcome to Nashville.

Well, as long as you're not a serial killer, I don't mind taking a board brother out on the boat for a few hours the weekend of the 26th. That's if you don't mind fishing w/ 3 people in the boat...The way I figure it, I still owe Crappietime about 5 or 6 trips on the lower end of the lake. :D:D:D Shoot me a PM and we can hammer out some details.

ThrillSeeker your one cool dude. I was going to make an invite too but realized at the last minute...mmmmm I'll be at Grenada that week. This is the kind of stuff that makes the board worthwhile. Hope you guys tear em' up.

ThrillSeeker, I sent you a PM. No, not a serial killer.
That is what fishing is all about, hanging out with good people and possibly catching a fish. I sure do appreciate the invite.
I appreciate all the info folks. Looks like I have some options. I'll check out the marina's on the net and see what I can come up with for during the week (most likely time to get out). You have some pretty good lakes there from my little research. Would love to bring the boat, but with a small window of fishing time and the gas money to haul it, it will stay home. If ever up VA way give me a PM, I'll surely return the favor.

May want to bring some heavier equipment. During the time your here the hybrids and stripers should be running close to the dam in the early morning and early evening hours. Park in the east lot by the dam and try fishing off that point. You'll most likely see a few of us wading there.

No problem at all. I did a little scouting on the lower end last night, and by the time you get to town, all of our options should be open as far as trolling, casting, or bobber fishing. I just hope mother nature doesn't throw us another curveball....kinda hard to believe that it was snowing and ice was on the ground 5 days ago. Today it was 75 degrees.
