    Default Pre dawn crappie 9/5/23

We laid off crappie fishing for the past week or so because of a poor solunar table graph and also Labor Day weekend. So we got our crappie fix off to a fast and hot start this morning. Slab sauce helped us to a limit by 6:37 which is about 30 minutes before sunrise. We fished until 8:15 before we had enough. Grin

Bobby Garland lights out slab slayer caught a couple for Phil early before he decided that I was having too much fun reeling in keeper after keeper that was caught on a Green Banana Baby Shad. He switched and we doubled on his first two casts with the hot color. It got daylight and the fish shut up. Must have had enough for breakfast.

Water flow was 19.9 cfs and surface temp was 82 degrees. The fish were found on a flat just off the main river channel in 14 feet of water. We kept 13 of the 17 keepers and had 3 or 4 short crappie. A spotted bass was caught on the first cast of the morning before the crappie woke up and started feeding.

As we came to the ramp we saw a man in a wheelchair fishing from the side of the ramp and his grown daughter fishing with him. I turned to Phil before we ever got to the ramp and suggested that we give some our fish to them. He said that he was thinking the same thing. We gave them 6 nice crappie for their dinner. They were thankful and were very nice people.

Awesome catches and pics. Very generous giving your catch to the man and his daughter. Good job.
