    Default Crappie before daylight 7/16/23

Phil Gawthrop and I hit the water several minutes before daylight and the crappie were on fire. By the time that it got light enough to see, we had 11 keepers in the boat. That was with 30 minutes of fishing. Love that Slab sauce and Lights Out Slab Slayers.

We fished 2 more hours for 3 more keepers with the last one being a fish that I was very proud of and it came in a 13.15/16” long. Almost a tarp two trips in a row. We weighed our top 7 fish and they were 9 pounds.

Chickamauga reservoir running 13.5K flow rate on the man river. Lots of bass guys out today. I don’t know if a tournament was going on or not. Probably was, the Chick has more tournaments than any body of water should have to put up with. Any club within a two hour drive seems to think that the Chick is the place to fish. Surface temp was 85 balmy degrees before daylight this morning.
