Thread: Father’s Day crappie 6/18/23

Dr Phil was without adult supervision today so I thought that I would take him fishing. North wind about 2 mph and cool morning made it feel perfect after the hot humid day that we had yesterday.

Total catch today: 10 keeper sized crappie, 5 yellow bass big enough to get a bite off each fillet, and 2 spotted bass, one of which went home with me to make my beautiful wife happy. Bass is the favorite fish for her.

All fish were deep, some up to 30 feet, so the bite was slow and sometimes unexpected. Bobby Garland baby Shad in Blue Thunder and Screamer caught the fish today. The yellow bass were aggravating at times, but we did get 5 big enough for me to fillet. Water flow was 14K.

We caught fish in 4 different spots and 4 spots that we tried were unproductive even though they had fish on structure. Sometimes they just won’t bite. I wish that I knew why. Grin.
