It was a chilly day and a misty windy day bordering on miserable when Dr Phil called and wanted to go fish for a while. I don’t know how to say no when it comes to crappie fishing.

We got out just as the mid morning feeding period was supposed to begin. With the passing of the front last night and the rain and thunderstorms that we had, my confidence wasn’t very high, based on experience.

But over the course of 3 hours or so, we managed to land 6 keepers, 1 keeper spotted bass, 4 little slimy green fish aka LMbass, and 3 yellow bass with one being a tarp 11” yellow bass. I have been trying to get the certificate for the yellow bass ever since twra added it to the list of fish that were eligible for tarp certificates. I think that will leave me either 1 or 2 different species before I earn the Master Angler 4 patch.

Surface temp was just over 57 on my graph and tva running 60+K cfs. At one point, the wind got up so badly for an hour or so, that we had to duck into a cove that was protected from the wind and fish deep. I wasn’t expecting much, but we caught 2 of our keeper crappie there and all the yellow bass.
