Good report and pics DK
My friend Tommy Y invited me to come down and fish with him on Nickajack lake this morning and since weather was beautiful for the middle of December, I jumped at the chance to catch some of Tommy’s pet crappie.
Fishing wasn’t red hot and actually was slow, but we caught 3 different species of fish. Crappie, LM bass and Skipjack Herring. Tommy had big fish with a 2 lb crappie that measured 15”. My biggest crappie was only 13.5” but very healthy. But I also caught 3 lb LM bass and a couple of big Skipjack herring.
Very nice temp at daylight and no wind made for some easy fishing. We needed a little more current for a better bite we both agreed. Bobby Garland plastics and Stumpbugs were the lures that caught fish. Monkey Milk best color.

Tommy’s big crappie was actually 16” when he got it home and measured it. We guessed 15” at the lake.

Been beating up on some greenie ditch pickles (live bait fishin' with some old tournament buddies) on the Chick in the last few weeks, but their photographs are not worthy of being displayed with these high quality sportfish on this site
