Sounds like a great outing
I went out to JPP Saturday morning with a couple of friends to see what we could do. We launched before daylight with a bunch of other trucks/trailers and boats clogging up the ramp - seems there was a tournament at Fate Sanders so we had more fishermen launching from the state park than usual. I dunked Brett out with my boat and then parked the truck/trailer and Sandy (my 9 month old yellow lab) dragged me from the truck to the ramp. She sure loves going out on the boat!
We arrived at my favorite spot with the running lights still up. It was just getting light out and the shad were all over the place shimmering at the surface. We put the trolling motor down and set up the Livescope. The shad were so thick it took me a few minutes to locate the brush pile we were going to start off with - too much interference. I threw out a marker buoy and we got started with some brave volunteers from the Engel minnow cooler. It was a little slow, but we finally ended up with 4 decent keeper crappie, all blacks, lost another nice one at the surface, and had about 6 or 7 short fish that we threw back. Tried a couple of other spots, but none were as productive as the first one. The fish we caught were 8 to 10 feet down in 13 FOW.
Here's a couple of pics:
