Jack .... I think several years back that Watts Bar's Winter/Summer Pool timing was changed to where it doesn't come up to Summer Pool until May 15th, whereas previously it was April 15th. And it isn't dropped to Winter Pool until starting Nov 1st.

From my experiences with Watts Bar ... for me & my buds that used to go there every Spring & Fall ... it has steadily gotten harder and harder to catch any appreciable amount of Crappie during those times (Apr & Oct) for the past decade (pre Covid years) ... so much so that we've stopped going down there.

From the Fall of 2000 to the Spring of 2005 ... I ran a Spring Fling & Fall Brawl ... and shooting docks was the primary method that was used (& when & where I learned the technique). We caught tons of fish, and plenty of 2lb fish. After 2010 my records show a steady decline in our catch rate.

Certainly leaves a lot of the docks high and dry. Seems to me about time the crappie start to go on bed they go yo messing with the water
