I was blessed to take little 5 year old Bentley and his Grandpa Leon out for his first boat ride and catfishing trip. Bentley has been talking about wanting to catch a catfish for over 2 years. He has been fishing out of Leon’s pond since he was 2 years old. All he wants to do is fish.

He caught a 4 lb 10 ounce Channel catfish and shortly after landing the fish, we were visited by a TWRA boat and they wanted to take pics of Bentley while holding his catfish. They posted it on their website under the photos section.

We also caught several Shellcrackers and Bluegills before the wind got up so badly that we had to stop fishing. Bentley is so hooked on fishing that he didn’t want to stop and while I was at the ramp getting the truck and trailer in position to load, Bentley was on the end of the ramp casting and trying to catch a bass.

Btw, he has already caught a 10.25” Bluegill from the pond and has his first TARP certificate. Grin. I’m still waiting on my first 10” Bluegill. I am 3 different species short of Master Angler 4 and Bentley may beat me to it.
