Thread: Dale Hollow crappie in August

I had my first trip to Dale Hollow in mid April fished out of Obey river area, I loved the lake and was impressed with the clear water. I would think if you have decent electronics Id look for deep structure and drop jigs down to them, or if your set up for it troll jigs or crankbaits. I know I catch my fair share of summer slabs in Ohio spider rigging deeper water, but the bite is lite similar to winter trout.

Ray I have only been to Dale Hollow once and that was a few weeks ago so my advice is limited. I can tell you it's the clearest water I have ever seen so the crappie will be deeper than you would normally expect. I could see the bottom clearly in six feet of water and I could see fish as easily as they could see me. They will probably be around drop offs and deep structure but dropping lights at night sound like a great plan.

Great Point Micmac. Ray try to plan your trip during the week. Weekends are not fun for fishermen on Dale Hollow. I've never seen so many extremely loud jam boxes and ski boats in all my days. Even up the farthest creeks was forced to listen to the pleasure boat crowd.
