Man, that sounds like a bucket list trip. Maybe PM drumking, he fishes Chick a lot and if I remember right catches some big brim below one of the dams in the fall. I would come home through Illinois and hit Rend and Shelbyville on the way.
We're taking in the Monkeeys concert in Chattanooga on 2 October so to make the trip worthwhile, to me, we're gonna pull the boat down from Michigan, make a 2-3 week trip out of it and do some fishing down there. We're tentatively planning on hitting Kentucky lk, Pickwick lk, Dale Hollow and Chickamauga res. Maybe Guntersville lk. All C&R. We don't really care what we catch but the more action the better. I know there's a lot of variables and unknowns but would we be better off fishing those waters the last two weeks of Sept or the first two weeks of Oct? We kinda like working shorelines and such instead of middle of the lake. Thanks for any advice. Mark

Welcome aboard from Arkansas.
Tell'em I'll be there.
Chattanooga is just upstream from Nickajack Res. on the Tennessee River. Nickajack is a great place to fish and early October will have the fish coming out of deep water and using the grass beds in shallower water. You might also consider fishing below the Nickajack dam in the headwaters of Guntersville. This area is full of great fishing. My PB Largemouth and Smallmouths have come from here.
Good Luck!
My PB catfish, crappie, and bass came out of Guntersville

Looking like the first 2 weeks of Oct would be our best bet. We might head down for the last week of Sept also. Gonna do my best to hit Guntersville for a few days too! I'd like to be back home to bow hunt starting the 3rd week of Oct. Never enough time! Thanks for all the input. I'll post here when we get back. Mark
