Glad you was able to get out and catch some !
I have been silent here for sometime and I thought that I would explain. Normally I don’t crappie fish during the spawning season because of the crowds and I don’t like to fish in a crowd. Enough on that. Grin.
What I have been doing and a lot of it is fishing below Watts Bar dam for Stripers and Walleye. Lately, TVA has been spilling all 20 gates below WB but that hasn’t deterred us or the fish. One day last week we landed 20 Stripers and 2 walleyes with 5 more Striper hookups pulling off. In 2.5 hours of fishing.
if you can get on the fish before all the guides from North Carolina get there with clients, it can be pretty good fishing. When they show up and start running through the fish, it is over for me. One day last week, there were over 12 guide boats up there. Just too much pressure for such a small
area.
But I decided not to sell my boat and purchased instead, a 12” Lowrance Elite Ti2 graph. Today, Phil and I launched and began scouting for some of the hotels that we have planted. Also, I set up about 4 different screens that I normally use while searching for fish.
We did check some shallow water for temps and to see if the crappie are staging in spawning areas. We caught 5 keepers in two different coves and had about 10-15 short crappie and Phil landed a 3 pound channel catfish. I will be glad when the spawn is over and not so many people are fishing for them. Crappie don’t bite except when they spawn. That is what they say around here. Lolol

I’m glad you kept your boat! I’ve not been able to fish enough to know whee they are. We went yesterday evening, and I was sure we would find them shallower and spawning. Was shocked to see water temps only in the high 50’s!? Caught a few, but certainly not anything to talk about. Life has really interfered with my crappie fishing. Great report!
I'm with you on the guide boats. I've had them run across my line before. Couple ??, what are you gonna do with the electronics you replaced. Also what's the laws on placing hotels. I've been told 2 sides to putting them out. Thanks for a y info.
Have you heard how the Crappie fishing has been? Full blown spawn or getting close?
It is what it is!drumking thanked you for this post
I like the looks of the new graph. Congrats on catching a few and thanks for the report.

The 7” Lowrance Elite Ti and transducer will in all probably go to Dr Phillip’s son in law that is thinking of buying a boat. He lives in Idaho so my waypoints won’t help him there. Lolol. The crappie spawn is imminent. Dogwoods blooming, temps in the mid to high 60’s most areas and a new moon phase coming up Monday. I predict that a lot of females will drop their eggs this week. White crappie spawn later by two or three weeks.

NICE. Love the new electronics! I've gotta get a plan on outfitting my new-to-me rig soon. Either gonna be the elite 9-TI2 or the Elite 9-TI2
Decided to go ahead and take last week off for gobbler-chasing and already bagged 2 of my 3 allowed, so hope to get on the water VERY SOON.
