OUCH! at least the barb is through the skin, its going to happen, just a matter of time. I stuck myself last summer with a crank bait treble in my palm at the thumb, tried the fishing line quick yank it out and just added to the pain. After about 30 minutes trying to get the treble off the crank (with one hand and the wrong hand at that) I found an old rusted needle nose plyers with a side cutter. I cut the top off the treble hook to get the crank out of the way, then got a good grip on the hook and pushed the hook all the way through the skin to be able to cut the barb off. By this time my hand is pretty much numb, I cut the barb and rolled the hook out, squeezed it to get it bleeding pretty good (supposedly this will flush the germs out of the wound), put a band aid on it and went back to fishing. The part about getting it to bleed good is totally false, next day my hand was red and swelled up pretty good so I went to the walk in clinic, got a shot in the butt and picked up $60.00 prescription for antibiotics, end of story. I'm a little more careful handling anything with a hook, but know in the back of my head "its going to happen again", I have a first aid kit and a nice wire cutter stowed away for that next time.
Hope it heels quickly!
