Good report guys
Gary Fomby, aka, Biofisher is off on Thanksgiving break from Central High School and needed a crappie fishing fix really bad, so I took him out on this cold super windy morning and put him on some fish. He wanted some fresh crappie for dinner tonight. He showed out. Grin.
On our first stop Gary caught a TARP sized crappie, 14.25”, a turtle, another keeper crappie, a spotted bass and a couple of yellow bass. I added 2 more spots, one nice largemouth, several yellow bass and short crappie. Then on to second stop.
In some offshore brush, we located a huge school of crappie, although most were short, we still managed to get 10 more keepers up to 11” from that area. Gary said that there must be 1000 crappie in that area. I’m guessing that we easily caught well over 50. Seems like we had to catch about 6-7 shorts for each keeper. Anyway, Gary got his crappie supper and I kept all the bass. It is yellow bass and maybe a spot or two for dinner at DK’s.
TVA was ripping current today and lake level has fallen unto about 1.5 feet above winter level. Guys, watch where you are going on the Chick if you don’t know the lake. You could easily run up on a bar or hit a submerged stump. We didn’t take many pics because the wind was blowing so hard and it was so cold that we just kept our gloves on most of the time that we were out. We stopped fishing at 11 am.
