Awesome! You just keep on keeping on!
I really wasn’t planning on fishing today because I had a couple of errands to run and wanted to make a cake. But errands can wait. Grin. Jay W called me around 9 or so and after talking for a few minutes he asked if I wanted to fish. I always want to fish but sometimes things keep popping up that I can’t put off, but I could today.
So we planned on meeting at Wolftever around 11 and we both made it there just a few minutes early. We fished until 1:45 pm. A little less than 3 hours of actual fishing time. A chilly morning greeted us with a north wind at 5 mph, blue bird skies, and 66,800 cfs current in the river.
I sort of had plans to run into Dallas bay and fish brush that has lots of fish, but not many keepers, but we stopped and scanned one spot that Candi and I caught fish on last week. It was barren. Donated a couple of jigs to the cover. Curtis Hobbs of Litewire hooks, will be grinning from ear to eat when he reads this post.
But on the way to Dallas Bay, I kept getting this unction to try the offshore structure along the main river channel in spite of the ripping current. I decided to go with 1/8 oz jigs and spot lock Crazy Ivan on a drop. I love it when the current and wind are in the same direction. It makes Ivan’s job a lot easier keeping up pegged on our spot on structure.
To make a long story short, it was the right call. We landed 13 keeper crappie topped by my 13.75” beauty, and Jay caught the only non crappie today, a fat spotted bass. Color didn’t really matter today. We caught fish on every color that we tried. Water had a little light brown stain, but visibility wasn’t all that bad from the rain. Surface temp was 63.9 when we stopped at 1:45 pm.
Im hoping to get Cuonthelake out there tomorrow afternoon. Let’s see if she can catch fish in all that current. Grin. I’m laying down the challenge right now. Bring it on, Candi.

Nice report!
Thanks for the trip. It's always fun to fish with DK and it's a learning experience most days as well. DK, thanks for letting me hang around and learn from you - I always enjoy our outings. Those fish were nice and plump and will make a couple of great meals. Good luck with Candi today.

My recommendations: Fish deep and in the middle of standing timber......and donate jigs......and remember “if you lose them, I will replace” .........for a fee.....
