Weekly evening after work trips are getting few and far between with the shorter days. Two weeks ago, water temps were about 86.

Well tonight, just a WEEK later, water temps at the exact same spot were 69.....yep a 14-15 degree drop in 7 days time.

Crazy, I text a buddy of mine and he said it’s what temperature? Had to take a pic to prove it. Well with those lower temps, the fish tonight were not deep, and it took about 15 minutes to figure that out with the empty depth finder returns on the deep structure.

So sitting in 12 ft water I pitched up to a small lay down and a 13.5in bruiser White Crappie got freaky all over my BGBS offering and took me for a good drag squealing ride.

Nuts, these are Spring time spots, but the fish were there. 4 more nice ones were home, so let’s try to repeat this pattern on some similar structure.

Boat in 12.5ft, pitch and retrieve through the limbs....thump... it’s-on again. What fun, I am not a Fall fisherman but I can handle this MO. Anyway with the short days the trip ended too soon with the fading light and 6 ended up making the ride home.

Every fish I cleaned was stuffed full of Shad in various stages of digest.

Feeding up for Winter they are, proof is in the pictures it is. Stay safe and get out there if you can, they are munching in the cooling waters!
