It seems that Biofisher brings out the best in the crappie bite. We had a before daylight start and fished until 8:30 with 12 keepers landed and 3 other big crappie pulling off at the net. Bummer. One looked tarp sized. The first one that I caught was 13 7/8” but no way we could stretch it that last 1/8”.
A lone white bass and a lone Shellcracker were the bonus fish of the day. We fished 3 offshore dropoffs and caught fish on 2 of them. Gary and I used both Minnow Mind’Rs and Baby Shads. Gary caught a couple on a plastic that Betty Rutledge gave as a bonus on one of his orders. Neither one of us knew what this bait is called, but I’m sure that it is a Bobby Garland bait. I’ll look it up.
Current in the river the same old slow flow. Water temp was 85.2 degrees on surface and we fished with 3/32 ounce Litewire jig heads by Curtis Hobbs. Fish were on bottom and we sat in 26-30 feet of water and fished the drop offs. Slow rolling while it was dark and then lift/drop slow presentation after it got light. Dark lures early, then switching to clear looking baits. I had luck on Pink Lemonade. Gary on Monkey Milk and a clear blue lure that we didn’t know the name.
