I have a pic of the Drum but don’t know how to add it to the report after I close it. Sorry all you Drum lovers.
You would think with the current moon phase, the north wind blowing hard enough to create small white caps, tva flowing 13,000 at 6 am up to 20,000 at 10 when we stopped fishing, water temp at 79.9 surface and not a cloud in the sky that fishing would be tough, but Gary and I had a great morning of crappie fishing with 4 bonus bass and one of my pet Drum. We totaled 16 nice keepers (big one just shy of 14”) and at least 1/2 dozen small crappie.
All our fish came on offshore structures and we were fortunate to figure out or luck into the technique that it took to get them to bite. I won’t say what the technique is, but I wrote about it on the Sticky part of the forum page under the DK method of single pole crappie fishing. Grin. You just have to keep changing your presentation until the fish tell you what they want.
Color probably didn’t matter as much as presentation, as long as it was a Monkey Milk Minnow Minder or a Lightning Bug Minnow Minder fish on a 3/32 oz jig. 1/16 oz just would not produce in the current even with the hot colors. Boat positioning was critical. The fish were 15-20 feet deep. Probably be that way most of the time this summer. Lots of bass guys scanning the offshore cuts. Must be a big tournament coming up.
