I took a shot at tying a few fly's for myself and came up with a few different profiles. I didn't have all the tools to do this properly, but for a novice I think they turned out OK.
I headed out last night as the sun was setting and stillness settled in.
A simple bobber cast to the shore line would be the approach in the 65 degree water. I picked up a fish here and there every so often, but no fast action. Rip Rap proved to produce the best results and I picked up one big female at 13 3/4. This technique proved to be effective on bass as well so those guys might ought to consider the technique. Eventually I was out of jerky and grew tired but I thoroughly enjoyed having the lake to myself. I would call the fly's a success as I actually caught fish on them. Now hopefully I do not sleep in too late.
