Have caught several on the Hiwassee (Lampreys) this year but none on the lower Chick. Good job and pix as usual Geno.
Yes I have been catching more and even more black crappie on Tellico the past few years.
I think the blacks tend to carry more weight and fight harder than the whites so this is a good thing.
Hardly ever saw one just a few years back.
I would expect dock shooting to get better as their numbers increase as well.
As for the Lampreys, I'm not sure what is going on. I do not think I saw a single one last year.
Now that I think about it, I have never seen one on any fish except for a crappie.
I read that the lampreys drink the blood of the host until it eventually weakens and dies.
Taking this into consideration, along with my own personal interests in catching crappie, I think it is best that these lampreys just go ahead and kick the bucket.

NICE. The only good lamprey is a DEAD ONE.
