    Default Melton Hill 3/1

The lake had dropped a couple feet since last week and the cold rain/snow during the week had the fish moving back down in the water column. We did go up river from where we had success last week. We had to fish a little harder and it took about an hour to find and catch our first fish, but we managed a couple limits and a handful of fish in the 14-15 inch range. No giants, but still a good day on the Hill. Baby Shad in 8-12ft of water was the ticket today.

Good catch, that water looks clear, our main channels are still dingy, and more rain next week. Your freezer should be getting nicely stocked.

That’s one of the best things about Melton Hill, the water rarely stays muddy for more than two or three days. Being a small lake fed by all that clear Norris water, it flushes out really fast. There was 6ft visibility at the boat ramp and 3ft where we fished.

Its a good time to go. Once the spawn starts it will be tough to get a boat out there, haha! One of the bad things about a small lake I guess. I’ll be walking the banks fishing spots where boats can’t go when it gets too bad.

What is the best ramp to use coming from Blount county? I used to use Edgemoor, but I've heard it is getting rough lately.....

We use Clark Park, or the dam. Never had trouble at either. From Blount county I would put in at the dam if I were going to fish no further up than the reactor flats.
