Thread: Crappie fishing in the river 2/03/2020

Today my friend Mr S helped me out by sinking a the last crappie hotel that JayW built for me. I’m thinking that the area will be perfect for post spawning and summer time crappie fishing. Possibly pre spawn as well. I will keep checking on it until the crappie move into this part of the lake.

After cutting the yellow ribbon on the new hotel, we went fishing until about 2:30 pm or so. I wanted to check out some spots in the river now that the flow rate has slowed to a reasonable speed. We checked it early and it was 38,000 cfs.

We found fish on a couple of spots and learned that they haven’t made it to other spots yet. That is okay and is one of the reasons that I love to scout while I’m fishing.

Anyway, we landed 10 keepers and a few shorts, one spotted bass and a golden shiner that was big enough for me to keep for a catfishing guide friend. Monkey Milk and Blue Ice were the only colors that we tried.

I only took two pics and intended to take others when we quit fishing but forgot.
