It was a tailwater trip for Dr Phil and I on this cold and windy morning. Sunny after it came up and with the lake at winter level finally and all 5 turbines running, the water was rough.
Eventually, 9 boats joined us but most stayed on the calm water side of the current break as TVA was running 45,500 cubic feet per second through the turbines making it extremely rough drifting next to the seam.
But, Phil and I found fish in the swiftest part of the water column and we were the only ones fishing that portion of the water so we didn’t bother anyone and no one ran up through the fish until one last boat did just a few minutes before we quit for the day.
Dr Phil put it on me with the walleyes, catching his limit of 5. But I caught all of the White bass and 3 of the Rockfish. We each caught 6 fish, but he got the targeted species and we were both throwing the exact same baits. Go figure? There is always tomorrow and if the good a Lord is willing, I will make a crappie report tomorrow after I get my stitches out of my thumb. Grin.
