Default Very short scouting trip 6/05/19

There was a certain creek that I wanted to scout and see if any crappie were loading up there yet as they have in other years. I had my wife Wanda, launch me at Tyner Lane ramp and off I went.

I went to an old waypoint that I had on this creek and sure enough, there were fish on a stump that I had marked on a drop into deep water. I moved the boat into position and set spot lock on Crazy Ivan and on the third cast, I hooked and landed a fat 12.5” crappie. Next cast produced a nice chunky Largemouth bass, so that one went home to my honey. I released all crappie. I’m still trying to decide if I want to fish the tournament this coming Sunday.

I didn’t stay in that creek long but did idle through it and noticed several bait balls and lots of fish in the deepest part of the creek. It is about 25 feet or so and has numerous stumps on the drop offs.

Then in I checked out an off shore spot that I haven’t fished this year yet and it produced 2 keepers, so I left them alone and moved on to my third and final spot that I wanted to hit today. It produced the biggest crappie of the day for me and it was a chunky 12.5” fish. I moved to another area of this structure and caught another chunky keeper. Then I called Wanda and told her to come get me at the ramp. Grin

Water flow was almost 27,000 cfs and surface temp has cooled a couple of degrees to 80.2.
