Gotta feed them family members so they don't go home hungry... Thanks for the report, for us working stiffs.
My brother in law, Leon came down from Cumberland county to fish for Shellcrackers with me, but after 2 hours of fishing and searching, we decided to crappie fish. We only caught 7 crackers and 5 Bluegills this morning after I have had three great days in a row on the red ears. I can’t explain it because we are approaching the full moon phase when the crackers go nuts.
The crappie were hot hot hot. We caught a few on deep brush and the rest can off vertical structure. The fish were from 5 feet deep on one spot to 30-35 feet deep on another spot. Bobby Garland Slab Slayers in various colors worked for us today. We ended up with 17 keepers and a few shorts.
Surface temp today was 69 when we launched at 9, but by 10 and the bright sun shining, it rose to the 72 degrees that it was when we finished at 2:30. 75,000 cfs was the predicted current flow and the water was a little dingy colored. We used 1/16 oz jig heads on the crappie and 1/48 oz for the crackers.
Leon needed fish for his freezer, so he took home our 17 keepers and the panfish. That ought to keep him busy this afternoon.

'Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk; lepers are cleansed and deaf hear; dead are raised up and poor have the gospel preached to them.
And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me... Matthew 11:4-6drumking thanked you for this post

Good catch, I think the Crappie are definitely moving to the Summer Patterns. Will get after them in a couple weeks after vacation. Looks like all Black Crappie this trip.
