hey guys. i am enjoying seeing some intrest in this. to answer another guys reply, no i am not the guy/guide who tried to do something like this before. i think he was just trying to hold just tournaments. i want to organize a club which will hold tournaments but like someone else said it would be great for kids and i also think we could do some conservation efforts such as have a day where we could get together and put out crappie beds in the area lakes we fish. i mean i just think it is time crappie fisherman in this area organize instead of watching all the bass guys have all the fun and get all the attention in this area. now i am from west tennessee and we had a club back there that we had fish fry's for member families to come to, we had kids tournaments, of course we held our own tournaments. matter of fact i was a young kid myself fishing tournaments with my dad even back then. well i am also open to other ideas that you guys might have. so keep the intrest and ideas coming and lets get this thing done.

I would be up for a club but the idea of adding more to the tournament scene is a little bit disturbing to me. We already have to fight off the bass fishermen in this area. There is a bass tournament on every lake in this area every weekend. Now don’t get me wrong, I would not mind fishing a tournament occasionally with my brother or wife or a local kid that needs a mentor, but it would have to be something that is not so money structured. A good family type club would be great. This idea has lots of merit if it is done correctly.

I agree with gilman. Especially if kids are involved - i think an award like a tackle pack of some sort and maybe a rod/reel combo should be awarded and a good ol' fashioned weenie and burger cookout. I myself don't have kids but do take a couple of youngsters out from time to time - not only would a club be a good opportunity for members here on crappie.com to get to know one another on a personal basis , but it would be a great opportunity to get the youth of our future to enjoy as well what we as adults have come to love. The possibilities here are endless , but i don't think it should be about winning a tourney for money - it should be about getting together , youth and adults for the sheer pleasure of it. - Pete

well i want to just say. the tournaments would not be all about money. i mean first if there was any prize money it would probably be little if any. i would leave it up to the club to vote on if we wanted to pay back money in our tournaments. like i have said all along i just want this thing to be fun. my reason for saying lets not let all the bass guys have all the attention is for the fact that i think we can do as much or if not more than they do in the ways of promoting youth fishing, conservation. i really think crappie fishermen are for the most part the most genuine folks period. so thats why i just think we should organzie a club. for sure it is not for the money but for the things we can add to the area and the exposure we can add to crappie fishing in this area. our tournaments would be just for us to have and have fun while doing that. trust me guys i have nothing but the best intentions here and just want to see if we can put it all together. i am enjoying all the feedback i am seeing here though. it really does look like this could happen if we all come together soon and work it all out.

hey guys. sorry i have not had this subject up closer to the top lately but i have been very busy with tournaments and some overtime at work the last couple weeks. so anyway i see we had alot of intrest in doing this whole thing so i guess we should all decide on a place and time and meet up to discuss this further. you guys just let me know what you think of this new idea and we will go from there.

Well what is everyones work schedule that would be a start to decide on meeting time.Or meeting at a ramp with a grill at it and maybe cook up some hotdogs and burgers and discuss this.Just an idea. That way we are using facitlities we actually pay for through our license fees.Nuttin else just set and talk and meet one another get some ideas where people are coming from and times that are good.
