Default Chickamauga 3/07/19 Crappie and Pet Drum.

Dr Phil and I took advantage of the beautiful morning to do a little crappie fishing. Actually, we fished from 8 am to a few minutes after 12. We had 12 keeper crappie, most were caught off a couple of docks. Phil caught a couple of keepers and one short crappie plus a 3 lb Drum while I was straightening out my line behind the boat.

Virtually no wind and beautiful sunshine even though it was below freezing when we launched. Tva is still spilling water over the floodgates and will be for sometime. FYI, the floodgates have been spilling since mid October. The water temp on surface when we launched was 46.9 and was 50.1 at noon.

Most of our fish came on Paradise Stump Bugs, my new favorite lure. Grin. 1/24 oz jig heads by Curtis Hobbs , Litewire hooks, were fished under docks. Some fish were shallow under docks and on one particular deep dock, the fish were deep over 10 feet or more. No really big fish today. Just good eating size crappie.

Good catch in this chilly weather. Seems more rain is coming, they might as well just open all floodgates on all TN river impoundments all the way to the Mississippi River until May. 10.5 to 11.5in are my favorite eating size also, second behind Gills of course!
