Nice bunch of fish... I didn’t have near the action... I started out with a slip float but caught my fish casting...
Not to beat a dead horse but I do think we have had enough rain in the South this winter. At almost 7 inches for the month, TVA has been working overtime to keep our East Tennessee lake levels in check and protect the people and property downstream. In between rain showers this afternoon I snuck off for about an hour to a swollen creek near the house and pitched a Trout Magnet. Muddy and warming, the lake had come up about 10 vertical feet and the fish are moving up with the rising water. First fish in the swirling current, a nice Speck that just ticked my offering but muscled the drag into a musical squeal. On 2lb test line, what a rush.
?
This fish had shoulders! A few more casts and another light tick, Crappie number 2, but a quick release at the shore.
?
He was getting a pass anyway. The Gills were present, just so muddy they were having trouble finding my bait. Rat a tat tat, finally a Cricket Cruncher was on the other end.
?
Three more small ones came to play, just not photographed. A dead feeling on the end of my line reminded me of a stick but soon moved and took a turn downstream. Old whisker fish, the first of two slimed my line.
?
Not a fan of handling these critters. It started to rain (of course) and I switched to the new color, Sowbug, of the Trout Magnet and quickly scored a beautiful Brown Fish.
?
As I type, once again, we are predicted to receive another heavy soaking rain overnight and into Friday. Like the title says, enough already.

Casting here also, water is shallow and has a current. I have been experimenting with the Thill Shy Bite balsa float (fixed float with silicone sleeves on each end) fishing about 2-3ft deep. With the light line it seems to cast well and show subtle bites. Not tried a slip float much, but might dabble with one when I start fishing more from the boat.

I’d like to try Cherokee from the bank one weekend or something... dad read in the paper that they are going to release some water from South Holston but not a lot since they are working on Boone Dam... it’s a shame for bank fisherman because the lake is only a few feet from full pool and there are limited fishing spots...

Very nice. I guess I’m gonna have to make a 100 mile drive next week to find some water that I can fish. Like you I hate handling catfish.....and in the spring they will flat hit some Trout Magnets.
Regards

I admire your gusto to even attempt to fish! I applaud your abilities to achieve success! I agree, we’ve had enough rain. Unfortunately, it’s not up to me!

...it's RIDICULOUS. Depressing. Had to open a can of tuna just to remember what fish smell like
