Feb 16th Ft. Loudon Tournament Results
East TN Crappie Club held its February Tournament yesterday on Ft. Loudon Lake. The day started off wet with rain before day light. Fortunately for the anglers it did quit raining before registration began. With all the rain previously this week the lake was very muddy. The muddy water did not seem to stop teams from catching fish though. Most teams reported catching the majority of there fish mid lake up and in depths from 5 ft to 25 ft. Congrats to all anglers who participated in the event.
The team of Matt Xenos & Darren Caughron won the event with a 7 fish weight of 9.57 Lbs. Congrats guys on the win. Behind them in 2nd place was the team of Brandon Henderson & Brian Harrell with 8.03 Lbs. In third place was Mike Fergerson & Tim Fletcher with 7.28 Lbs. Big fish for the day went to Mr. Mike Willard with a beautiful 1.55 Lb white Crappie.
Darren & Matt reported catching there fish on brush and stake beds in 12 to 20 ft of water, casting and vertical jigging with BoneHead Tackle stump bugs, Flies, and Crappie Magnets. Colors that were the best were black & chartreuse, red and yellow, and red and chartreuse. Brandon & Brian were spider rigging open water catching suspended fish with double minnow rigs. Mike & Tim also reported spider rigging with double minnow rigs.
