    Default Loudon - 11/6/18

After taking my boy out Sunday, I decided to take a day off yesterday to hit the lake. With an exceptionally busy schedule lately (work, two younger boys, just started my MBA, and my wife tore her knee up and is about to have surgery #2), I haven’t had any time to get out, so I decided it was time. As I am typically a longliner, I’ve been trying to focus on single pole. I had heard a couple of good reports on docks recently, I set out shooting docks. I worked a ton of docks, but could only ever find a few here and there. It seems this was not the day for docks, so I had to change up and went scouting a bit deeper. Found some good brush at 18-22 fow and THUMP! Found em! Seems the rain had pushed them deeper. I talked to another guy at the ramp when I came in and he found the same thing. He had been catching them off docks, but today nothing- had to go deep. Fish were also found suspending at 15 ft over trees/brush in 30 fow. In the mix, caught mostly smaller 10-11 inch fish, but had several nice ones over a pound. Not much in between. The highlight of the day was this nice 15 1/2 inch slab that weighed in at 1.56 lbs. So much fun jigging brush and having one like that hammer it! Another great day on the water.

You just have to try different things. I worked on vertical jigging my last time out myself
'Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk; lepers are cleansed and deaf hear; dead are raised up and poor have the gospel preached to them.
And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me... Matthew 11:4-6

That one in the picture is a bonafide Slab for sure. Single Pole is my favorite also, I like to tickle the brush and feel the Thump. Great Report on a day off work!!

Yeah, I’ve been trying to make myself hone in on a technique and not let myself always default to the same old things.

I tried vertical casting that CrappyPappy speaks of yesterday, it works. I caught my limit but they were all around eleven inches.
