Opportunity knocked today. My chance to get out after the finned ones. Rain was misting and air temperatures were dropping but not a bad day at all. There wasn't any long runs made today. I stayed fairly close to my launching site. I would have to say my first stop of the day was the best which accounted for half of my catch.
By the way I had a wonderful coat and hat rack on the back of my boat which fell over the side as I was leaving this site. Oops. I plan to come back periodically and see if I can hang a jig on it as to try and retrieve it. I realize a few fish might get in the way as I attempt to retrieve this with my jig but this but it must be done since I have lost 2 coat and hat racks in the same location this year and I must attempt to retrieve them at some point. I have included a pic of it below just in case someone sees it out on Tellico Lake somewhere.
Anyhow, Leaving stop 1 the wind was starting to pick up. This made boat control and bite detection tough. I stuck it out a few more hours before calling it quits. I had a total of 26 complaints of sore lips by the end of the trip. 10 were keeper sized crappie with a bass and a drum also complaining of sore lips.
I only fished with 2 rods today. One was rigged with a 1/32 orange chartreuse and the other a 1/16 black chartreuse crappie magnet. What I started out with worked well so I saw no reason to change the colors. The 1/32 was used for count down casting and the 1/16 was used for vertical jigging. Appears 17ft was the magic depth of the day at 60 degree water temperature. A little deeper than a few weeks ago at 67 degrees.

Cool coat rack, maybe some of the local inhabitants will find it and hang around it to make sure it doesn’t go anywhere.
