Default They call me the breeze....

My apologies to the late, great Ronnie Van Zant.... I can’t sing, but I watch the weather forecast religiously. Especially the wind! Today was cool, but the wind was predicted to be lighter, so about 4:00, I hooked up the boat in record time and we were off to a still to be determined ramp. We choose from three ramps on these quick evening trips, and I suggested one with a lot of known brush piles, as that’’s the way I like to fish. One rig at the ramp, but that ain’t gonna worry us! After all, lots of these old country boys and girls are no doubt sitting in a stand on the last week before ML season. I ain’t got no bow, and I ain’t got no Black Powder weapon, so I’m still fishing! Water temps this evening were 62.5-65.5, depending on the location. We found some fish in 20+ FOW, and we fished about 15’’ down. The bite was light, so you better be in contact with your jig, and a close eye needs to be alert to detect a “tick” or slack in the line. This 13.75 wanted some Sweet Tea with Lemon, and I took this pic to include my BGJP for G’s contest!Name: IMG_1237.jpg

I’ve caught a handful of TARPS this year, but the Golden Rule said this old gal didn’t quite make it! She just needs 1/4”” more, but alas, she will not attain TARP status. Instead, she will satisfy my urge for fried crappie! I have memorialized her in pictures, however!Name: IMG_1238.jpg

We didn’t keep all that we caught, but we’’re gonna eat good, and probably include a couple from church that had us over last week for some awesome Backstrap steaks. The obligatory cooler shot.Name: IMG_1242.jpg

Good looking fish, and yes this old country boy has been in the woods for the last month!! They should be getting shallower soon with that observed water temperature. The size looks great, 6-7 like that will definitely make a complete meal! And as for the power T, they need a little more power to make it to a bowl game this year!!

A bowl game is not likely, but I refuse to be a fair weather fan......good thing, because there has not been any fair weather for awhile! I am wanting/trying to learn the deer hunting game. My turn will come during rifle season. I hunted for many years, but always small game. Then the golf bug bit, and I spent 30 some odd years out of the woods and off the water. We will see if deer hunting is for me very soon. Good luck with your hunting!

Good luck to you on the big game foray. I killed my first deer 35 years ago with a bow at Chuck Swan WMA on Norris Lake. The deer hunting bug bit then and I keep scratching at it year after year. I am 1-2 this year, a miss early and harvested a nice 8pt last week. If you enjoy eating venison as we do then your harvest will be extra special. Please post your first year stories over on the Hunting Board. Oh, and keep up the Crappie reports, I do enjoy them.

Thanks man! A couple of guys are taking me under their wing, so time will tell. We did fish a different area this evening for the same hour and a half. Caught some more, but I failed to take pics, so this is the extent of the report. 64 degree water and a lot of current in the river. It was hunt and peck, for sure! Last trip for a while......I think!
