Nice bag of fish. I haven't seen water temp like that since April.
dr Phillip and I hit the water at daylight this morning in search of more off shore crappie. We had a great morning size wise, and also a pretty good number for the limited amount of time that we spent on the water. We had 19 keepers and a few shorts. Most were quality size crappie.
Again, we were fishing main river channel cuts and drop offs with stumps and brush cover and mostly in 20 feet of water. Color of jigs didn’t seem to matter much as we caught fish on several different colors. Bobby Garland slab slayers fished on 3/32 oz jig heads did the most damage. We did catch a few on Strike King Lime A Nator by Wally Marshall. Don’t tell Wally but Bobby Garland rules Chickamauga lake. Grin.
As as we were getting ready to finish up this morning, I did my usual few minutes to scout new spots and found a big stump in 20 feet of water with a big school of fish on top of it. We threw a marker out and fished about 15 minutes and caught a couple of Shellcrackers. The biggest was 12 1/8” long and Phil said it was the biggest Shellcracker that he had ever seen. I didn’t have my scales on board, but this fish was a beast. I thought that I had hooked a bass until I got the fish up and looked at him.
Bonus fish today was a Blue catfish that I am having for dinner tonight. Phil caught the cat and two yellow bass. Water temp was 82.6 when we started this morning and 84.4 when we stopped at 10 am.
BassERT thanked you for this post

Beautiful shellcracker and great report!
Great report!
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
Great shellcracker!
If we did what was most important in life there would be a shortage of Bibles.................and fishing poles
Nice pics and post! I see the "lucky ball caps" are really paying off. lol
Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.
Great pics - thanks for sharing!
That’s a good looking ShellCracker and excellent size on the Crappie for this time of year. Mine seem to be shrinking, but still hungry.
