Default Heading down to West Sandy in the morning.

I'm staying at Pleasant View resort for 10 days. For the last 2 years I have been working on selling one business and getting another one up. Lucky if I had 10 days off in that 2 year stretch. I just hope there is some fish to catch while I'm there. By the look of the map there is plenty of water in that area to fish. JC

How is the boat ramp at the pump house? Can I put my boat in there with the high water? P.S. I will be by myself. Thanks JC

Boat ramp should be fine, if not, you are just a few miles from the Britton Ford ramp. Most all of us that live and fish this area ( I live on Big Sandy portion) are still seeing lots of small fish, and the keepers are thin, very thin. If here 10 days, consider a trip over on main portion of lake. The fish I've caught in Danville area are mostly keepers, although still thin in size.

After reading all of the reports for KY lake I didn't expect to put crappies on the endangered species list. So with that said, I have 2 days of fishing in and it is tough to say the least. I'm a long liner, I use jigs and cranks. So far the closest thing to a pattern has been 1/8 oz black jigs with yellow curly tails on them. A few came on greenish cranks. When you guys said they are skinny you were not kidding. I have pulled a few 12" fish, when I thought about taking them I flet like a child molestor, so I let them swim. I'll try again tomorrow. JC

The crappie on Kentucky Lake are by far in the poorest shape that I have seen ever. I spent all last week over there and it is pitiful. A person can catch a limit of fish, but they are thin beyond belief.

I pulled almost every jig combination and crankbait that I have on the boat today. .7 to 1.3 MPH. 23 fish, 2 were stippers. I didn't keep anything. But one pc. of info, 3 years ago I replace the trolling batteries (2 batteries in parallel) with Advance Auto Parts deep cycle batteries. Today I ran the trolling motor into the wind more than I did with it to my back and I got a full 9+ hours from those batteries and still pulled fine when I got to the ramp. Pretty good I think. I guess I will try the 500 foot wide troller net tomorrow or maybe the dynomite. JC

I've never fished the pump house. I've never even been there - just looked at it on a map.

My dad goes, but they have small jon boats. If I understand him correctly, they put in the west side of the levee where all of the trees and stuff are.

Do you fish the west side or east side of the levee? Is there enough ramp to put a bass boat in both sides? Or only a ramp on the west side near the docks?

I live a half hour on the other side of Nashville - so I'm not even sure I'd make it over there - just curious.

4 days into a 10-day fishing trip and I have seen enough. It truly is a shame what has happened to the water in this area. I really hope something can be done in the future to turn this fishery around. JC
