Way to go ! Some gooderns! Keeping that skunk at bay ! maybe you can get a jump on the wind if you start real early ,early in the morning!
But that’s better than snow flurries and cold! We left the house about 4:00 this afternoon, with low expectations. The wind was stronger than forecast (big surprise there), and I felt fairly sure the water temp had dropped since our last trip. Surprisingly, it was 59-60 surface temps. I started with a Mr Crappie Slab Slanger in Black/Chartreuse, and got a goodun right off! Today the bite was the heaviness on the end of your line, mostly because I couldn’t keep a tight enough line to see or feel it due to the wind. This first stop proved to be quite productive, but the wind really made it difficult. We tried a half dozen other spots, but just couldn’t make it happen. We decided to end the day where we started, and the wind had died. Unfortunately, so had the bite! We caught some quality fish today. A couple were just shy of
TARP status. I decided to weigh a couple, but typical of this lake, length doesn’t translate into heavy weights. Shouldn’t have used the scale, because the would have all been 2 1/2 pounds in my story. The big negative, when we pulled the boat out of the water, the transducer mounting board had come off. A drag up the ramp managed to scuff the end of my 12” Lowrance ducer. I remounted it with bigger screws, and the only way that I know to test it is to go again tomorrow!
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

Were your keepers mostly male or female?

In a past life I Bass fished regularly and found out real quick that most times in the Spring and Fall the wind from the correct direction can be your friend! I too enjoyed the bluebird skies early this morning and found a few that wanted to play!

Caught this guy today on a 12’ jigging rod with a tiny fly reel type line holder. It was a war!
