Default Norris Lake w/o 23 April

    Hi Everyone,

Every year, I travel to Norris Lake to visit a family member who lives very close to the Lake Norris. As you can guess, I prefer to crappie fish, but Norris (or my fishing tactics) has not produced very many fish. I've caught some very nice crappie, but they are few and far in between.

I am looking for some help on this lake. As always, I'm not looking for GPS coordinates or exact spots on a map, but want to really try it more this year, and was hoping someone could give me some information about how to catch crappie on such a clear and deep lake.

I understand your concerns about lurkers, so if you want to send me a PM, I fully understand, appreciate, and will keep the information private. I will be putting in at Hickory Star, but not afraid of a boat ride to catch some slabs!

Thanks, and tight lines to all!!

    Ed

My family used to live at Springs Dock on Norris Lake.
    We always striped bass fished.
Crappie fishing is very low on the totem pole there.
From what I've seen the best advice I can give you is fishing around the docks.
There's some big bluegills around Springs Dock if you're interested.

I’ve never saw a Crappie report from Norris. It may be worth a bit of driving to go to Watts Bar or even Melton Hill.

I've lived very close to Norris for about 40 years, and gotta tell you it's probably been 30 years since I've wasted a day fishing it. Around here we call it the Dead Sea. Good luck.

I’ve never fished Norris for crappie because of the above-mentioned sentiments, but I’ve heard that Lost Creek is a popular spot for them.

Wow! Thanks for everyone's comments!! Now I don't feel so bad since I typically catch some fish there. Any other thoughts??

If you are determined to fish Norris, go below the dam at least a mile and do some trout fishing on the Clinch.
