    Default Watts Bar

Heading to Watts Bar at the end of April for a 3-day fishing trip. We'll be bass fishing mostly; however, I would like to do some crappie fishing. We are staying at Arrowhead Resort. Any recommendations on crappie fishing? Trolling or jigging?

Say Hi to Louanne and the gang for me !! Stay there most times I visit Watts Bar & they're great people to deal with. If the Crappie are pre-spawn or spawning, I'd be casting the banks all the way out of the creek Arrowhead is in (opposite bank from marina) until you pass Terrace View Marina. I'd shoot the docks along that bank, too. If they're not on the banks yet or already post-spawn, slow trolling minnow rigs just off the bottom in about 20fow has been known to work pretty good ... or you "could" Push jigs or cranks from there on back into Whites Creek along the channel edge if they're not hugging bottom by then (and the water temps are already >70deg).

Can't help you much on the Bass, as I've mostly caught them by accident Crappie fishing ... other than when I used to go there for Smallmouth (many decades ago).

Good information. It's my 3rd trip to Watts Bar. I've spoken with Louanne a few times. Nice lake. Nice resort. Hoping for warmer weather in a couple of weeks!
Fish bite 2 times a day - Before I get to the lake and after I leave.

Bass fish the same banks crappiepappy said for crappie. Caught some pigs down those same banks and docks. Caught my personal best smallmouth, 6.4 lbs in this area too.
