Great job Dickey. It seems like you've stumbled up on the mother-load of donkey white crappie lately. If this keeps up I believe you'll have your 3-pounder soon. Water temperatures should start climbing by late next week. Thanks for the report.
Dr Phil called me last night and wanted to help me put out a crappie hotel that I have had ready to go for a while now. So, we hit the water at daylight and planted the hotel in a good spot, I think.
It was foggy, and threatening rain, but the rain went around us. We did fish for a few minutes before calling it a morning. Phil had a project going over in middle Tennessee, so we didn't stay long. But, long enough for me to catch a couple more TARP White crappie. 15.0", and 14.25". Water temp this AM was 50.9 and TVA running a lot of water.
I caught my big crappie on a Crappie Magnet 3" shad that looked like BG Outlaw Special color. The second one came on a Bass Assassin Limetreuse Glow 2" Tiny Shad. 1/16 oz jig heads and fishing in 14-16 feet of water on drops. I also caught a keeper Black crappie that was busting with eggs. Belly was all swollen up and eggs almost oozing out. If the water temp ever comes back up, some of these fish will go on beds.
