    Default Panfish biting today 1/25/2018

Cuonthelake and I had a great 2.5 hours of fishing this afternoon. We both decided to go with wax worms and nightcrawlers and it made a big difference. I used the wax worms and she used nightcrawlers. I added a pink powerbait to the hook with the wax worms and the fish went nuts over this combo. We took home 28 bluegills that were between 8 and 9.5". I have them filleted now and in the freezer. Except for 10 fillets that Wanda and I will eat for dinner tomorrow night. Yummy.

We used the drop shot method of fishing with an Aberdeen hook on my rod and a bait holder hook on Candi's rod. In the 2 plus hours of fishing, we must have caught over 125 fish. We were doubling nearly every cast. We had bites on every cast. Some hooked up and pulled off and we missed some bites. But most came into the boat.

Slab, Candi said that the crappie.com shirt sure is warm. It was around 35 degrees when we started and a slight north wind, but it warmed up nicely and the wind laid down toward the end of our afternoon trip.

I must be the biggest kid in Hamilton county. I loved every minute of this fishing trip today. Let the water warm up just a little bit and I will get back after the crappie. I went yesterday, but all we caught were bass and bluegills. Not a crappie bite. We checked deep, brushpiles, rockpiles, shallow water under floaters and the specks have pulled a disappearing act on us.

One little tip that I will give you. At the beginning, Candi was missing a lot of fish and after hooking up, they were pulling off. I finally took my pliers and opened the gap up on the bait holder hook and it was game on then. I'll bet that she didn't miss 3 fish after that.

Looks like a fine day was had by all. Congrats on the catch. You two should start doing instructional videos.
