Same in the Big Sandy. Too many carp. Water is clear, no plankton? Not much shad to eat. Starving crappie.

Just read an article in the new TN Wildlife magazine on the carp. TWRA says carp haven’t had an impact on native fish yet West tn crappie

Also TN Asian Carp Task Force got $75,000 allocated for equipment to try and harvest carp.

Fish I caught last month at Big Sandy were pitiful. The 8-10” fish were healthier than the 11-12” fish by far. The 10” fillets weighed more than the 12” fillets.

Do you think the old ones are slower than those young'uns? I'm older and a lot slower. I have thought those yellar bellies were faster than any age crappie. they win the race to my hook most of the time

Crappie on Pickwick lake that I have caught all look fat and healthy, haven't been able to catch any to amount to anything below the dam. I had already caught 150 to 200 by this time last year. Don't know if it's the carp or clear water but I just can't catch them so far!

Don't let the Asian Carp back in the water. Save them for the garden, flowerbeds, trash can or chickens if you don't eat them.
