Default Watts Bar Lake Crappie Fishing

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum after coming across it looking for a fishing report for Watts Bar. I've found lots of good information on the crappie bite and I appreciate it. We're coming back down this week and will be fishing around Piney and the main river channel near the dam. I mostly small mouth fish, but a couple of the guys fish for crappie and I try to do some report scouting for them before we come....they don't do the internet. We've held off a little later this year to give the water a chance to cool down, I hoping we hit it about right. Thanks again!

Good luck, let us know how you do. The rain and cold nights should make things shake up a little.

The crappie bite was pretty slow for us this week....we did manage a few along the ledges in about 15' - 20' of water.

I was down there Wed-Fri and got 19 keepers total ( see other Watts Bar thread for report). I did have a local tell me that he'd heard some people at Piney were catching limits .... but I don't remember him saying "how" they were fishing.

Water temps are still 10-15 deg higher than what they normally are. think this has a lot to do with it. first time I ever remember in my lifetime going muzzleloader hunting in short sleeves.

I live here in East Kentucky, EHD has devastated the deer herd in our part of the state. Some areas have experienced a 50%-80% die-off according to our fish and wildlife folks....sad situation.
