    Default Reelfoot

Came down last year and fished mid-april with a group of 20 for are annual get away... ended up with around 50 crappie for the whole group in 4 days. Fishing was so slow we hired a guide, "Jackie Van Cleave" for a day and ended up with 6 crappie in 8 hours...... kinda detoured alot of guys from making the 5 hour trip anymore. Has the lake's crappie population dropped that much? Years past we have done A LOT better but have seen a steady decline every year. Notice a bunch of Asian carp in the lake now..... could that be the problem?

We began catching good crappie the 1st of March on the North end of the lake last year. No trolling just jigging the pad stubble and saw grass. 2016 was the best year we had in the last 3 years. The attached pic was taken on March 16th.

buddy had a place there for a few years and we fished it several times and did well but spotty results. sometimes in the trees was the ticket, others it was drifting over the stumps on area close to resorts/resteraunts. that was later than may. he did very well in january thru april.

we had similar results when we went to Ky lake, weather fronts would blow thru when we went early and sometimes we didn't catch much and other times great. when you make buddy trips like that it happens.

2016 was the best I have seen Reelfoot in years. looking forward to 2017, in fact may try them Saturday calling for light rain and light wind with temps in the upper 50s.

I always do well in Feb, before the droves hit the lake. More predictable weather that time of year.

well we tried them Saturday morning for a lil bit. everyone on the lake was out of minnows at 6:30 am. So had to wait on the minnow truck which did not arrive until 8am. got fishing at 8:30 and got blown off at 10:15 bye a pretty good cold rain storm with fairly hard winds. Boated 1 keeper. First trip of the year to knock the rust off. should be better nex trip.

Did you happen to notice the water temp?
