I read that one proposal would open them up to commercial fishing as (believe it or not) the meat supposedly tastes good if prepared correctly, and there is a market out there and, even some carp processing plants in neighboring states. They way I've seen them schooling in creeks, It looks like you would just need a big boat and a big net. They school tightly in huge numbers, near or at the surface and are not skittish of boats unless, of course, the motor is running with some rpms.
