What a fun filled day. Thanks for sharing the report.
The day started with a Little League Baseball game instead of fishing. My son's team won and he got the game ball for hitting a bases clearing double to take the lead and seal the game victory. I don't think it could be possible for me to be more proud of the kid. He is a great student and loves to read. He is a strong player in sports and a dedicated Cub Scout. Most of all he loves to go fishing with me, and when he can his Papa.
After the game all three of us went fishing for crappie. We long lined jigs for about 3 hours. That is about as much trolling my son can take at any one stretch unless he is reeling them in one after the other. We were not catching them quick enough for a hungry 8 year old so we packed it in. A check of the livewell revealed 5 keeper crappie to go along with the many other fish we all caught. Catching was more difficult with the cold front moving the fish around as much as it did. We were using BGBS on 1/16oz jigs. All of our fish were caught in water 7 feet deep or deeper not on the bank like earlier in the week.
Good Luck the next time you fish, JayW
