We do on Okeechobee when the bite turns off, they will hit the yoyo's
Just curious if anyone on here has ever ran yo yos for crappie. I know lots do for catfish on reelfoot, including myself. I read Mississippi and Arkansas fishing forums quite often and lots of those guys run yo yos for crappie this time of year. Too boot they catch som hawgs on yo yos as well, lots 2lb+.
I think it'd be a blast to do before the spawn kicks in full gear. Anybody ever heard of someone doing this or maybe have done it?

Yep, absolutely hate it. I use to live in Greenville, MS. and fished Lake Washington often. People would come down and absolutely flood the lake with the things. Not fishing in my opinion. People that Yo Yo the right way stay there and watch them. Others leave them and its noting to see a big crappie stinking on the line from being there so long or becoming turtle food. They have had to make lots of laws for that lake to curtail some of the irresponsible folks. Not my cup of tea plus some people steal those fish or cut the lines.
"CRAPPIE" Enough Said
I saw the same thing when I lived in GA and fished Lake Jackson a lot. Folks would set them then not run them, leaving dead fish hanging from limbs. Not the picture of fishermen the public needs to see. Setting them like jug lines for catfish or rough fish is fine IMO.

Glad to know that it works. Yea when you run yo yos you should definitely stay with them. If properly done it's not bad, and perfectly legal.
we use them for catfish usually in may and have a good time.We put out around a 100 yoyo`s and camp on the bank in the area where fishing, run them all night or until were tired of taking fish off
Dude...it's all wrong. Seriously. Catfish okay, but crappie ??? Crappie ain't like a trophy muskie or tarpon but let's elevate them just a little bit up the fish status ladder.
I have caught a couple good ones on jugs when baited with live minnows or live shad. But wasn't targeting them.
Long as it's legal, shouldn't be an issue. Can't take any more fish with yo yos than rod and reel if you follow limits, so shouldn't be an issue how you catch them.
