    Default 03-24-15 Tellico Lake

Hit Tellico this morning around 10:00. Surface temp was 50 and it was 60 when we left around 3:30. Caught 22 keepers and maybe 10 shorts. Fish are beginning to congregate but the groups are still scattered so you have to hunt them. We trolled the whole time and had a couple passes where we had two rods down at a time. We did manage to have one double on a single rod. For anyone doing the math there was two of us in the boat. Most fish came out of 20-24 feet of water. Lake was clean and just a little stained. Most of the fish were 11-12 inches and we put back any that did not measure at least 10 1/2 inches. If this cold spell doesn't ruin the bite then the crappie bite is on. Got a good sun/wind burn but it was a perfect day to hut the lake.

I got there around 8:30 this morning, temp was 58*, but got up to 62 by afternoon. Did not do as well as you guys, but I brought 10 home for dinner tomorrow night, had about 6 shorts and a small bass. One area I was in was full of trash (limbs & small logs from raising the water levels, pine needles, and such) but everywhere else was clear of stuff, water was stained as usual. LOL. Several of my keepers were thick in the shoulders, but on the short side (still legal) and made nice filets, even with my rusty fileting skills. LOL.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
